et plus report Reasi, Mar 19: Army through its various initiatives under Op Sadhbhavna has strived towards bringing about betterment in various spheres of activity in the remote interior under-developed areas. Continuing its initiatives, the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Battalion located at Sarh donated different store and stationary items to an orphanage in Buddhan Village of Mahore Sub Division. Army spokesperson stated the orphanage presently is being run by an NGO named ‘Orphans Self Help Group” where total of 11 members from Buddhan are working over-time to provide education to all these orphans under the patronage of Mushtaq Ahmed as the organiser of the NGO. Presently this orphanage has enrolled 55 orphans and is providing them with school fees, books and requisite stationary. “Most of these orphans have suffered the brunt of militancy, wherein their parents were killed by the militants, towards the end of Nineties, said an volunteer of orphanage. Kuldip Roy Sharma, the treasurer of the NGO, claims that they set up the organization with whatever financial back-up they had, in order to ensure that the orphans were not deprived of education. He also stated that the Army has played a pivotal role, in not only helping them to set up the NGO but that it also supports them by various means in the running of the orphanage. Commanding Officer of the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion located at Sarh, Col JS Kohli today distributed benches, blackboards, educational charts, sports items, games and a colour TV to the children of the orphanage, in an effort to support their education. The Army has played a major role in bringing back peace and tranquility in the lives of the populace of this region, by carrying out relentless operations to cleanse the area of militancy. The change in the mindset of the youth, in the Mahore region as well as in the various other regions, is a testimony to the genuine efforts of the Army in this regard, a statement added. |
