Kishtwar, Sep 14: In order to spread the message of peace and communal harmony in violence hit Kishtwar District, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today held a peace march at Kishtwar from Dak Banglow Chowk to DC office Kishtwar. In the peace march which was led by MLC Syed Asgar Ali, hundreds of people from both communities including the youths raised the slogans like "Hindu, Muslim-Sikh Itehad", beside slogans promoting communal harmony and peace. The peace march culminated at DC Office Kishtwar where the party leaders submitted a memorandum to administration with regard to Eid violence. While addressing the gathering, Syed Asgar Ali demanded a detail and depth probe against those involved in flaring communal clashes. He said that PDP will support any action against those who are real culprits and warned the administration over arrest of innocent youths. He also condemned the statement of NC spokesperson Davinder Singh Rana who in his statement said that Kishtwar violence is the handiwork of joint efforts of BJP and PDP. Asgar Ali said that it is a known fact the Davinder Rana's elder brother is the chief spokesperson of BJP, while he (Rana) is close aide of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He said that NC-BJP relationship is known to everyone and same can be judged from the cross voting scandal in MLC elections where 7 BJP MLAs voted for NC candidate. He said that PDP will continue its efforts in bring peace and normalcy in Kishtwar. He said that if any additional evidence is needed by Davinder Rana, he should seek a copy of FIR of the riots which took place on 12th of August 2008 and added that Mr. Rana will definitely find the names of the NC party leaders and their sons in the said FIR. Among the prominent who address the gathering include Ashok Kumar Sen, Suresh Sharma, Noor Hussain Malik, Sheikh Abdul Latief, Munshi Ram, Umar Malik, Ishtaq Waza, G M Rahi and others. It is pertinent to mention that Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas witness massive communal clashes on August 9 which also spread to other parts of the District and state. The spate of communal clashes claims the lives of three people, beside public and government property set on fire by the miscreants and also loot shops and other business establishment during widespread arson. |
