Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 14: The State Government used Rs 30 crores budget of Zubin Mehta show for its own pleasure and to appease its own selected guests. Very few guests from Jammu region were invited and those got the invitation had to leave their families behind.
The Centre had provided this large amount to the State Government to invite the locals to witness world class performance by international renowned artists.
Omar Abdullah led State Government used this opportunity to invite glitterati from Mumbai like Naureen Wadi, Rahul Bose, Akbar Khan and selected few female journalists from one particular TV channel, close to Omar Abdullah.
From Kashmir some top businessman, important personalities along with their families were also invited.
But Jammu , which is also equally an important and integral part of the State, was just left out. Except for few legislators from, which was compulsion of Government very few were invited.
Those who were invited were not even given proper place to sit in. Even top officials from Jammu were seen standing at the park where concert was going on but those from Kashmir were given first row seats.
Very few from Jammu region were invited with their families. The Government had the opportunity to bring in more people from Jammu as they would not have raised anti-Government slogans, a fear of Government, and would have taken out the sting of campaign against the concert as being anti-people.
Even at the dinner hosted by CM at SKICC, guests from Jammu were not invited.
Omar Abdullah even in his speech didn't make a mention about the Jammu as if it doesn't exist as part of the State but confined it to only Kashmir. Omar had faced the music of Kashmiris for this event and now he will hear the symphony from Jammu region when it will cast their votes in elections.
