4 days police remand to 4 students, 2 still absconding
Violence in JU campus

JAMMU, Sept 14: Court today granted four days police remand to four students arrested for violence in Jammu University Campus on Friday. Among arrested included M.S Bhatti, PSA member and three girl students namely Sunandni, law student, Marvi, political science student and Katrine Kour, law student. They were booked under section 307, 147,148 RPC. While the girl students have been lodged in police station women cell, the youth was lodged in Gandhi Nagar lock up.
Police is also launching hunt to arrest the two more students namely Talib Hussain and Manik. They two were booked under same section. Earlier, the arrested students also applied for bail but the same was postponed.
Meanwhile, State President of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha Ravinder Raina demanded stern action against the culprits who assaulted Sanskrit Scholar Kapil Shastri on Friday in Jammu University Sanskrit department in which Kapil Shastri got serious injuries and is admitted in emergency wing of the Government Medical College-Jammu. Raina alongwith BJYM Jammu district President Ajay Vaid Visited the hospital to meet the injured Kapil Shastri. He condemned the vandalism unleashed by the Students of Progressive Students Association (PSA) and demanded that all the miscreants must be book under Public Safety Act (PSA) Briefing the media outside the GMC Hospital Raina said that anti national forces are trying to disturb the peace in Jammu and the recent incident of Jammu University has proved that these elements are now focusing the Jammu University. He appreciated the role of Vice Chancellor Jammu University Mohan Paul Singh Ishar and SSP Jammu for taking the immediate action against the culprits and also demanded the immediate arrest of the main accused who has not been arrested so far. Raina said since long the anti-national elements are trying to make their foot hold in Jammu University and said " We apprised the administration about anti-national activities in Jammu University in the past but administration ignored our concerns " During the hospital visit Raina met Principal Government Medical College Dr. Shashi Gupta and asked her to take proper care of Kapil Shastri. He later met the vice Chancellor of Jammu University and asked him to take strong action against all those who are hatching conspiracy to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the University.
