| Divisive NC's communally motivated attack on BJP | | Threat to national security' | | Neha JAMMU, Sept 14: Jammu province National Conference (NC) president has unleashed a vilification campaign against those in Jammu province and other parts of the state who have been demanding complete merger of the state with India by removing from the Indian statue book the atrocious Article 370 that has not only complicated the situation in Kashmir valley, created doubts in the minds of the international community about the political status of the state, jeopardized the legitimate interests of Jammu and Ladakh, reduced the minorities and depressed communities to a nullity for all practical purposes and promoted communalism and separatism in the Valley. The pernicious Article 370 was adopted by the communal Congress leadership in 1949 on the insistence of the communal leaders of Kashmir, especially Sheikh Abdullah, who wanted to set up a Switzerland-type independent Kashmir and become its undisputed Sultan. The NC provincial president has not only been denouncing the People's Democratic Party (PDP) but also the parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for quite sometime now. He has been dismissing the BJP as communal and divisive and describing the otherwise well-known communal, divisive and rabidly anti-Jammu, anti-Ladakh and anti-minorities NC as a secular and democratic outfit and dubbing the PDP as an outfit that can go to any extent to fulfill its lust for power. He has been describing the NC's ideology as progressive and inclusive and its system of governance as people-centric, transparent and accountable suppressing the truth that it is the NC that has destroyed the state and rendered the minorities voiceless by pursuing ruthlessly communal and separatist policies and communalizing the whole polity. He talks about the composite culture of Jammu and Kashmir but conveniently suppressing the truth that Kashmir which was once 100 per cent Hindu has today become a region dominated by the people of other denomination and the process of religious and ethnic goes on unabated even today. He does not refer to the migration of Kashmiri Hindus from the Valley. Nor does he talk about the miserable plight of the under threat miniscule minority of Sikhs in Kashmir, who have been threatening exodus in the event of the State Government not taking action against the fanatics in Kashmir. He also says that NC believes in democratic values, but refuses to comment on the highly undemocratic and unconstitutional February 2002 amendment that banned delimitation of constituencies for decades together to deny the people of Jammu province, including Hindus and Muslims, of their legitimate due share in the legislative Assembly. Not just this, he says that the NC believes in inclusive politics, but conveniently ignores the composition of the Omar Abdullah-led council of Ministers. In any case, the communally motivated campaign unleashed by the Jammu-based NC Omar Abdullah's man has been only harming the NC itself. It was because of the nature of the NC leadership and its vilification campaign against the nationalist forces that the NC has become a marginal outfit in Jammu province. So much so, even the people Kargil have rejected outright the NC. As for Leh, the NC has no say whatsoever. Indeed, this Jammu-based Omar Abdullah's man is conducting himself in a manner that would ensure the NC's demise in Jammu province sooner than later. |
