Jammu, Sept 14: Displaying their concern for the people of curfew hit Shopian town, the villagers from adjoining areas have rushed supplies to the distressed and besieged people of the town. Shopian which is witnessing curfew, strikes, clashes and killings since September 07 is short of supplies. However knowing the prevailing circumstances of people living below the average middle class level who used to work in main market,in private and government sectors and presently facing a brunt of ongoing curfew, villagers of Pinjura, Imam Sahib,Turkawanga,Vehil and of other areas while showing solidarity with the people of main town on have been distributing money, vegetables, medicines and other essentials. Vehicles carrying, rice, vegetables, milk and other food items could be seen in main market shopian, Bongam Chowk, Bona-Bazar,Batapora chowk distributing among the needy besides labour force of Bihar, Bangal, Nepal and of other places of the country fall short of words to thank these people and added that such solidarity cannot be seen anywhere in the country except Kashmir. At the same time accusing district administration for not making any arrangements to ensure availability of essential commodities at government stores during evening times, senior citizens of main town Shopian also said that because of ongoing curfew non availability of medicine is also taking a heavy toll on, besides doctors posted at Public health centers in far flung areas also refer the patients to district Hospital Shopian where markets are closed and only two medical shops are functioning within the hospital premises. Locals also allege that authorities announce relaxation in curfew while sitting in their cozy rooms but the situation is different on ground level and they are not allowed to move during the relaxation period either. Meanwhile Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama remained under curfew for the fourth consecutive day today in the morning hours, however as per reports though curfew was lifted from parts of Pulwama and Kulgam curfew is in place in Shopian since September 8 except one day gap. Pertinently Shopian is under curfew from September 08, when four people were killed by CRPF among which Jammu and Kashmir police later identified three as civilians, followed by another killing of a civilian namely Rafi Ahmad Rather, 28, a driver by profession again allegedly by the hands of CRPF personals at Gagren area. The people of the area demanding removal of CRPF camp from Gagren area and strict actions against the people involved in the killing of civilians, besides mainstream and separatist factions are also demanding strict action against the CRPF personals involved in the killing of civilians and removal of CRPF camp from the area within a stipulated period of time. |
