JAMMU, Sept 14: Even as the Vice Chancellor for Central University Jammu was appointed two years ago, the university is nowhere in sight.
The varsity still is operating without any proper infrastructure clandestinely. It has been lacking behind all other central universities of India, including the central university Kashmir in all respects.
When the vice chancellor was appointed, he sought one year to carve out a system to impart quality education. But he has so far failed to deliver and is only busy in appointing his close aids in the varsity.
It is a known fact that people of Jammu fought hard to get the central university for Jammu when Kashmiri leadership deceived the state and took out the first central university announced for state from Jammu to Ganderbal. When the CUJ was announced after making amendments by parliament, people of Jammu again protested for appointment of a local vice chancellor and they succeeded.
Former J&K chief secretary, SS Bloeria was appointed first VC of the CUJ and it was seen as a good step for upgradation of education in the region. But all hopes got shattered as he hasn't been able to deliver.
The first biggest mistake of Bloeria was to appoint PS Pathania as his OSD, who had a bad reputation in Jammu university.
Pathania was allegedly involved in corruption cases in Jammu University and appointing his OSD was first and biggest mistake done by Bloeria. During few months, Pathania started to show his teeth and appointed his daughter, a simple MBA graduate, as assistant professor in the varsity.
Now, all things in the varsity are moving in wrong direction as only few streams have been introduced in the varsity and no major campaigns are being run to attract people towards the varsity. |
