Protest in Padder over arrest of five persons
Justice Gandhi arrives in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, Sept 14: Retired Justice RC Gandhi appointed by the State Government to probe into August 9 Kishtwar communal clashes finally arrived in Kishtwar today afternoon nearly 20 days after Government announced his name. Justice Gandhi after his arrival at Kishtwar immediately rushed to Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) Kishtwar and examine the arrangement in his office established by the state Government inside the TRC Kishtwar.
He assumed his office today, but will start work formally tomorrow. As per the sources, Justice Gandhi will start his inquiry from tomorrow and will record the statements of witnesses and the victims including the kin of those got killed during the violence. District administration has made elaborate security arrangements in and around TRC complex.
Meanwhile people of Karthie and Hanswar of Padder Tehsil held a strong protest against the arrest of five persons including a local Panch Lekh Raj. As per details available with "Early Times", Special Investigation Team constituted by the DGP Ashok Prasad on the instruction of the Government arrested Girdari Lal son of Shadi Lal, Kalyan Singh son of Prahalad Singh, Joginder Singh Bhayan Ram all resident of village Hanswar Padder and Pritam Lal son of Radha Krishan resident of Karthie Padder. As soon as the news of arrest of these five persons spread in the area, the people in large number including the women assembled on main road near Karthie and held strong protest against the arrest of the five persons. Unconfirmed reports reveal that police also used force to disburse the protestors, but fail in their efforts. Later the administration rushes extra forces to Padder to deal with law and order situation. When last report came in, the women protestors were sitting on roads demanding immediate release of the arrested persons.
While talking to "Early times" a senior police officer on the condition of the anonymity said that any person involved in violence related case will not be spared at any cost. He said that in case anyone found innocent during the course of the investigation, he will be released without delay. He said that police has so far arrested nearly 60 people in connection with various FIRs registered in connection with Kishtwar and Padder violence. He said that investigation into 3 murder cases is at advance stage and assured that culprits involved behind those killings will be soon behind the bars. He said that the question doesn't arise that any guilty person will be allowed to go scot free. He urged the people to cooperate with investigating agencies and advise the common people not to fall prey to rumors.
