Kathua, Sept 14: A formal function was organized in the premises of Govt. Degree College, Kathua to felicitate the champions of Inter-Collegiate Badminton who came after winning the championship of Badminton which was organized by Sports Department, University of Jammu, Jammu from 9th of September, 2013 to 13th of September, 2013.
Out of Twenty Seven (27) teams, of P.G. Arts (Jammu University), GCET Engineering College, Jammu, Govt. Degree College, Kathua and M.A.M. College reached the Semi-finals. Final match occurred between Degree College Kathua and GCET Engineering College, Jammu in which Degree College Kathua defeated its rival team and won this championship. All the players performed very well but in the finals, Ankit, Abhishek, Dinesh, Bhargav, Shubam Mahjan and Rajnish made their special contribution to attain this much-coveted position.
Winning this championship 1st time in Badminton is a great achievement made by the college Badminton Team under the able captainship of Abhishek. All the students were full of zeal and enthusiasm. Their feelings were well conveyed through their facial expressions and gestures when they met the esteemed Principal Dr. Nater Singh and the teaching staff to share this moment of joy and happiness. The champions were welcomed by the Principal. He encouraged the students for further achievements and assured them of his full support. Dr. Nater Singh also appreciated the Physical Director Dr. Balwinder Singh and Team-in-charge Prof. Ashok Kumar for providing proper training and guidance to the students. In his turn, Dr. Balwinder Singh, Physical Director of the College thanked the young and dynamic Principal Dr. Nater Singh for providing his support and guidance pertaining to the organizing of various Inter College-Competitions in sports and games. He further assured the Principal that under his competent supervision and command Sports faculty will thrive hard to achieve much more in the field of games and sports. |
