KPs observe martyrs Day, demand passage for Temples Bill, separate homeland

JAMMU, Sept 14: Kashmiri Pandits hold various programmes all over the country today to observe the 25th Balidan diwas. Besides the Jammu, the programmes were organized by displaced Pandits at Union Capital, New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chandigarh etc where rich tributes were paid to Tika Lal Taploo the former vice president of State BJP and a veteran KP leader who was killed on this day in 1989 at Srinagar by the terrorist for confronting the separatists to challenging the accession. This was followed by the killing of another veteran KP leader and a great social activist Pt.Prem Nath Bhat who was killed on December 17, the same year at his hometown in Anantnag and within a year hundreds of the members of the Minority Pandit community were killed including the women and children by the Pak backed terrorists to scare the community and force the mass exodus. The main programmes were held at Jammu where besides the protest demonstrations, seminars, public meetings and solemnizing of havans marked the observance of the day. The joint Forum of KPs an amalgam of six displaced Pandit organizations staged a demonstration in front of press Club here which among others was addressed by BJP legislative Party leader Ashok Khajuria, Party National Executive Member and chief Spokesperson, Dr Jitendra Singh, State president VHP Dr Rama Kant Dubey, president Panun Kashmir, (PK) Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president All State Kashmiri Pandit conference (ASKPC), H L Chatta, national vice president JKVM, Dr R L Bhat, president All India Kashmiri Pandit Conference, H N Jatu, M K Raina, president Jawala Ji, Ashok Braroo, Kashmiri Lal, Virender Rina , spokesperson Joint Forum, B L Bhat and H L Bhat president and general secretaries of JKVM. They while paying rich tributes to martyrs including the jawans of security forces and their officers who laid down lives in fighting the proxy war in J&K accused the weak kneed policies of the union Government deteriorating situation and increasing militant attacks. They said the Government has failed to solve the problems of displaced people and Jagti township has been concentrated into a concentration camp. Warning Government any dilution in Shrines and Temples Bill they said that not even a single Hindu shrine in Kashmir will be allowed to keep outside the Bill.
The Panun Kashmir led by Dr Ajay Chrungoo organized a seminar at Jammu Club which was presided over by former DGP and a well known activist of civil society of Jammu Manmohan Khajuria. Among others the seminar was addressed by well known intellectual and think tank of PK Dr , M K Teng, well known writers Prof M L Koul and Dr K L Choudhary, Shalinder Aima and P L Raina.
Addressing the seminar PK chief Dr Ajay Chrungoo said that except homeland there was no alternative Kashmir issue and redressal of plight of seven lakh displaced Pandits. He, while justifying the homeland demand said that those who talk that this demand will automatically lose its weight after the migrants return to Valley under PM's job package said that the separatists activities have been contained by the homeland struggle of PK to a great extent as PK gave them a formidable challenge with this slogan.
He expressed concern over the problems of Jagti camp people saying that this ahs been result of a particular mindset in State Government which was working against the interests of Pandits. He said soon after the Kishtwar violence Pandit bastis at a Srinagar temple, Haal Pulwama migrant camp were terrorized. A Hindu temple was also attacked at Handwara and this all is done under a game plan, he added.
To pay homage to martyrs a Maha yagya was organized by Amar Balidan Trust at Durga Nagar under the leadership of H L Chatta. On the occasion awards were also given and devotees were served prashad after Puranahuti. On the call of Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) the displaced Pandits in Union Capital observed Balidan Divas as black day by wearing black badges and witching off lights in their residential houses for one hour in the evening as mark of protest.
On the call of KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri a demonstration was also held at Union Capital in which the community reiterated its resolve to continue struggle against the Pak sponsored terrorism and restoration of the homeland (Kashp State) for over seven lakh Pandits in Valley with free flow of Indian Constitution.
