Lal Singh slams BSNL authorities for poor service
CGM BSNL blames GREF authorities, Broadband service at Panchayat level soon

Kishtwar, Sept 14: Member of Parliament from Udhampur-Doda-Kishtwar parliamentary constituency Chowdhary Lal Singh today slammed BSNL authorities for their poor services in Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi and Udhampur regions. Singh while chairing the TSM meeting at new DC Office complex said that the poor services of the BSNL have created resentment among the people and advised the BSNL officials to improve the services in these remote and backward areas of his constituency. He said that people have a lot of expectation from BSNL and added that instead of improving the services, the BSNL services in his constituency have gone from bad to worse. He stressed creating of separate TDM post for Doda-Kishtwar, Ramban-Reasi, Samba-Kathua in addition to the existing Udhampur circle for effective monitoring. He said that present era is the era of information and technology and added that majority of people in remote areas of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban District are still without such facilities. He said that BSNL must improve its services in these remote areas, beside there is a need to expand the BNSL mobile service in unconnected areas of Marwah, Dachhan, Warwan, Padder, Nagsini and also all along the National Highways. He also slammed the BSNL authorities for poor internet services including BSNL broadband service, Wimax and 3 G services. He said that BSNL authorities have failed to better its services at District headquarters and the condition of other areas could be judged from this fact itself. He said that people were asked to pay without providing them a quality service. He directed the BSNL authorities to take immediate steps for improving its services so that people could take benefit of BSNL services. Reacting to various queries of members, Chief General Manager (CGM) BSNL R K Koul put blame on GREF authorities for creating hurdle in replacing of old optical cable with new one from Batote to Doda and Doda to Bhaderwah and assured the members that BSNL authorities will take effective and concrete measures for upliftment of its services in the area.
While talking to "Early Times" on the sideline of the meeting R K Koul said that the department has already accorded sanction to various project and added that he was hopeful that within next few weeks the service will improve at large. He said that department has also accorded sanction for installation of Microwave band at Doda and Kishtwar, beside switch band at Doda for effective mobile services. He also said that BSNL will launch latest EVDO services in Kishtwar and Doda in a week time. He said that BSNL has also accorded sanction for providing broadband and telephone services at Panchayat level. He also directed Xen BSNL Doda and Accounts Officer Udhampur to visit Kishtwar at least twice in a week so that the public related issues could addressed at grass root level. In a question regarding launch of mobile services in Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan, Mr. Koul said that BSNL has installed a tower at Inshan in Warwan and is waiting for state government who has promised to install solar system for the said tower since there is not electricity in the area. He said that District administration has made a promise with BSNL with regard to airlifting of material up to Marwah and added that the promise is yet to be fulfilled even after two years. He said that the aim and objective of BSNL is to provide better quality services to its customers and assured that BSNl will do his job with honesty and dedication. Earlier various speakers highlighted the problems faced by the people in different areas of Doda and Kishtwar District and seek MP Lal Singh intervention in addressing all the public grievances. Among the prominent who speak on this occasion includes Payare Lal Shan, Mushtaq Hap, Chowdhary Ishaq, Abdul Latief and others. TDM BSNL Udhampur circle, DC Kishtwar, Officalls of BSNL, District Administration and police also attended the meeting. (this story nt page one stuff)
