| Catch -22 situation for aspirants over allotment of centers | | SSB examinations ambiguity | | Mohd Majid Malik
Doda, Sept 14: Aspirants appearing for the examinations conducted by nodal recruitment agency Jammu Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) still are in a state of perplexity as after postponing scheduled date at eleventh hour, now aspirants are in a Catch-22 situation over the allotment of centers to candidates for the posts based on 10+ 2 level as many alleged all have been done on pick and choose policy. Some of the aggrieved alleged that some candidates' got centers right in their own home town where as some got their examination centers allotted outside their respective Tehsil which they alleged is not only time consuming and a financial burden as well. Sources with department said that due to some hitches in procuring admit cards (roll number slips) to aspiring youths across the state including Doda district also. The Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (SSB) has deferred the screening schedule slated today but many aspirants hailing from far remote areas had reached to the examination centers assigned to them. Sources added that the SSB took decision of postponing the screening test, citing curfew and tense situation in many districts of Kashmir valley over Shopian killings and it was being demanded for past many days but the decision was too delayed and information failed to reach to many of aspirants. The screening test slated today was for filling the vacancies advertised vide notice no 03 of 2012 and 01 to 06 of 2013. However, deferring of the test at eleventh hour caused much inconvenience to the job aspirants, particularly those who had to travel all the way from one district to another to reach to their examination centers. An aggrieved Asif alleged that the board official issued the notification regarding postponement of the exams at around 4.00 pm on September 13, only few hours before the commencement of the examination when many candidates from far flung already have left and were stranded halfway.' Earlier, the board drew flak as there were numerous complaints that aspirants failed to get admit cards in time, owing to defects in official website of the nodal authority. After facing criticism from various quarters, state government on Sept 9, deputed four KAS officer to assist the said Board for smooth conduct of written test but deferment of exam only show the lopsided functioning. Meanwhile, Chairperson SSB, Shagufta Parveen said the problem might be due to some erroneous filled forms by aspirants while filling up their forms as the department has uploaded/updated database on our website. 'All is well from our side," she said, hastily adding, "the slow website could be due to some internet problem.' |
