| Lal Singh advocates CBI probe in Kishtwar communal violence | | Says will arrange meeting of traders with PM | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, Sept 14: In a significant development , senior leader of ruling Congress ally and Member Parliament from Udhampur-Doda-Kishtwar parliamentary constituency Chowdhary Lal Singh today strongly advocated CBI probe in Kishtwar communal violence which struck on August 9. Lal Singh favoured this during his meeting with trader community in the district . While addressing the traders and party workers at New DC Office Complex at Kishtwar, Lal Singh strongly condemn the Eid violence and killing of three innocent people in aftermath of clashes. He slammed the forces for burning alive a person in the violent frenzy. "What kind of message those people responsible for burning alive a handicapped person and killing of two other persons want to give to society…. Their acts have caused grief to many families besides damaging public and government property" said a visibly disturbed Lal Singh . He said that peace and communal harmony is the guarantee of prosperity and development. He urged the people not to fall prey to communal forces who want to divide the people on the basis of religion. He urged the people not to sow the seeds of hatred among their children. He cautioned the people that in case the society fails to maintain peace and communal harmony, future generation will not be able to move forward. He said that people must play its part in safeguarding. "It is our duty to safeguard majority community people living in minority community dominated areas and similarly it is the duty of the majority community to safeguard minorities living majority community dominated areas--- and only then we will be able to defeat the communal forces" said Lal Singh. He assured all the victims that he will try his best in addressing their issues and will also play its part in arranging meeting of traders with PM Manmohan Singh and also with Industries of Chamber and Commerce, beside with Chairman of leading banks so that the issue pertaining to the loan avail by the victims could be addressed. He also demanded stern action against the culprits involved behind creating communal flair. Earlier traders stress for demanded of compensation at par with the losses, strengthening of security and action against culprits. When contacted President Trader Union Kishtwar Rakesh Gupta said that they are stick to their demands and added that until and unless the victims get benefit in real sense, all the exercises carried out by the administration, social organization or by any political party is useless. He said that traders are hopeful that MP Lal Singh will convey their demands to state and central government for applicable solution. He said that there is a need to take steps for preventing August 9 like incident which is the 5th such kind of incident on account of the business community suffers on all counts. Traders also slammed SSB over their failure in preventing Amar Market from burning where the SSB bunker is less than 5 meters away from the said market. They also expressed anger over police for their failure in preventing the shops situated in front of police station Kishtwar from burning. Meanwhile senior Congress leader Thakur Jughal Bhandari put blame of police and administration for their failure in controlling the situation. He said that despite sufficient inputs, police and administration fail to act on time. He said that the failure of police and administration could be judged from the fact that there was free for all like situation for the rioters on August 9 who looted and burnt the shops, hotels and house while police and administration remained a mute spectators. Lal Singh also visited the market and assess the damages and losses suffered by traders community. |
