Municipal workers' strike continues, deliberations end in deadlock

BHADERWAH, Sept 19: The hectic deliberations between leaders of Municipal Committee, Bhaderwah and the administration ended in a deadlock, with the former refusing to call off the workers strike which they started twenty four days ago. ADC Doda Ghulam Nabi Balwan besides Administrator, Municipal Committee Bhaderwah held negotiations with the agitating Municipal workers, however, the employees failed to convince the workers. ADC Doda Gulam Nabi Balwan and other officials appealed to the employees to call off their strike as the demands have been discussed with the concerned Minister and Commissioner/Secretary and Director Urban Local Bodies adding that as soon as possible salary will be released. Shokat Ganai, Moul Raj, Mohd Hussain , Nasir Ahmed, Sunil Kumar, Abdul Hafeez Dar and Rajesh Kumar all MCB employees leaders said, "The protest will continue till our demands are met. We are demanding release of pending salary of four months and regularization of all workers . We have been asking for setting up of DPC for some time now, but are dissatisfied with the fake assurances of the Urban Local Bodies Director." Meanwhile, all the employees of MC continued their strike today in Bhaderwah town in front of the Executive Officer, MCB and a vast garbage dump with unattended garbage making the entire Bhaderwah town , especially the main thoroughfares stinking.
The municipal workers accused the administration of giving fake assurances and not paying any heed to their demands including release of four months pending salary and regularization of all casual and need basis workers.
