| Time to resent sexual exploitation of mentally retarded girls | | | ET Report
JAMMU, Sept 19: Why is Government still not taking action against the people responsible for sexual exploitation of mentally retarded girls in a Home being run by Rotary Inner Wheel organization?
After it came out that a girl, who was raped very often by the officials of Rotary Inner Wheel Home for Mentally Retarded Children and had to go for abortion but the authorities are unmoved.
It is a known fact that Rotary Inner wheel is an International organization associated with Rotary international and people who run it in Jammu are minting amount of money. Relatives of Rotary club Jammu officials are running this home for mentally retarded children and are at still on pay rolls notwithstanding the storm the rape incident has created.
The concerned citizens have sought intervention of the Chief Minister. They also urge the people to raise the issue. "This is the time when people of Jammu must come forward and show respect towards women in Jammu," they said.
The relatives of the exploited girls feel let down. "People across the country came out to protest rape of a Delhi girl because she belonged to a respectable family. But who cares for ordinary mentally retarded girls in the contemporary times.", they questioned.
The irony is that the Sakina Itoo who happens to be the only women in the Omar Abdullah Cabinet did not express her views. She did not even issue a statement. |
