| Register FIR against Nayeem Khan : Manhas | | Painting Guru as hero is insult to constitution | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 19: BJP national executive member & former state president Shamsher Singh Manhas, has said FIR against Nayeem Khan should be registered and he should be punished for seditious activities. He was addressing a press conference Thursday. Referring to the release of a book having compilation of collection of letters from Afzal Guru, who was executed in February 2013 for his role in the 2001 attack on parliament, Manhas said that the 94 page book, prepared by separatist leader Nayeem Khan at an event titled "Ahli Emaam Kay Naam Shaheed Afzal Guru Ka Akhri Paigam" (martyr Afzal Guru's last message to the faithful), has the potential of inducing separatist and anti-national thinking among people in Kashmir. Nayeem Khan has made this attempt as the Congress-led UPA and the state's NC-Congress coalition has adopted soft approach towards the anti-national elements and a handful of separatist leaders in Kashmir have started taking both the government for granted. He also questioned silence on part of the PMO, Union Home Minister and J&K government on this important issue and said that the prime minister should himself intervene to ensure that guilty is brought to book. Shamsher Singh Manhas said that attempt has been made to project Afzal Guru as martyr while the fact is that he was a terrorist involved in attack on highest temple of democracy of India and was held guilty for the same. He was a criminal and calling him a martyr is also insult of the constitution of India under which Afzal Guru was sentenced to death. He said those painting Afzal Guru as a hero are working against the constitution and hence all such elements should be booked and exposed for their soft approach towards anti-national elements. Manhas said that the UPA government should take lesson from USA which has taken a very clear stand on terrorists and anti-national elements. The commitment of USA governments towards such elements came clear when they attacked Bin Laden and killed him. Our government should shed the policy of appeasement and take a clear line against anti-national elements so that a clear message is sent that the Indian government will not tolerate any such individual or organization which protects, encourages and promotes anti-national elements, he said. |
