DC asks panchayat members to spread message of peace

KISHTWAR, Sept 19: Chairing a meeting of panchayat members of Padder tehsil of district Kishtwar at the district HQ, DC Kishtwar, Baseer Khan today called upon the panches, sarpanhces and chairpersons of Gulabgarh, Jad, Ligri, Tun ,Sohal, Tyari, Afani and Atholi panchayats to work for maintaining the age old tradition of peace and harmony in the region.
SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal and BDO Padder Rishi Sharma were also present in the meeting. The Panchayat representatives apprised the DC about their initiatives at local level for restoration of confidence and mutual understanding among different communities. They said that numerous meetings have been held at every panchayat level and people are willing to work for peace and brotherhood in the area. They are also planning to hold peace rallies so that a sense of mutual respect for each other be created among the different communities. They also requested to the administration that innocent people should not be implicated in false cases and proper investigation be done before making arrests.
While addressing the representatives, the DC and SP assured them that not a single innocent person will be harmed but at the same time whosoever is found guilty of serious crimes of arson and murder will not be spared.
They appreciated the people for their efforts in the direction of restoring peace and normalcy in Padder area and exhorted them to spread the message of communal harmony among the masses. They asked the Panchayat members to have full confidence in administration.
