JAMMU, Sept 19: National Secular Forum (NSF) has demanded a high-level inquiry and immediate suspension of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), R S Pura, Deewakar Singh following serious allegations of corruption against him. They threatened to launch an agitation against Police department if action would not be taken immediately. Addressing a press-conference, Surjit Choudhary requested Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take cognizance of the allegations and initiate high-level inquiry against the SDPO, besides immediate suspension till pending inquiry so that fair probe would be ensured into the matter. "The SDPO in connivance of land mafia and is trying to encroach upon the land of the complainant for sake of money. The SHO concerned also refused to register the complaint of complainant and asked him to lodge the complaint with the SDPO, R S Pura, which is illegal", he said. "The SDPO demanded and accepted Rs 20,000 as bribe to release the labourers from custody. He is directly involved in several land encroachment cases and there should be a thorough probe into it," Choudhary said. He said the SDPO had breached his red line and had openly threatened to book the complainant under PSA if his conditions regarding bribe are not met. |
