| ETT Instt Association terms 'opening of more B. Ed Colleges as 'droll' | | | Et Report Jammu, Sept 19: Expressing serious concerns over the latest decision of J&K government to allow more B.Ed Colleges in private sector in the name of universities advocacy, Deep Singh the president of "Jammu Pvt. Schools & ETT Institutes Association (Progressive)" termed it just an 'odd' in view of present deteriorating standards of teacher education in state. Expressing more, he termed such decision of state government at this stage as merely election funding scheme of the coalition partners who just possess a casual approach towards the so-called priority sector i.e. "education". B.Ed course of the state Universities is well exposed for its irregularities and deficiencies including almost total absence of admitted students during the course, Singh alleged. "Students with 45% marks in open category are being allowed for admission in B.Ed. colleges affiliated with Jammu University whereas students with 33% marks (open category) are being allowed in Kashmir University affiliated B.Ed. colleges, he further alleged. "Almost defunct working of existing state B.Ed colleges is directly affecting the required teaching in schools and instead of due monitoring of existing colleges, the decision of allowing more B.Ed colleges in private sector will be just funny, he further alleged. He also alleged more pinching aspect in this regard is helplessness of state Governor & Chief Minister as Chancellor & pro-Chancellor for not directing the state universities for reining in the B.Ed. Almost same is the case with Elementary Teacher Training course of JK-school education Board but simple difference is merely non participation of state students, Singh expressed. While appreciating the recent efforts of Secretary School education Hardesh Kumar Singh for seeking opinion of masses in context of a required "Right to Education Act 2013" & streamlining of the B.Ed course, Deep Singh stressed for the need of such like initiatives in other fields too including the Universities functioning. He also appealed the Chief Minister to defer such decisions till a required improvement in existing conditions of state. |
