Jammu, Oct 1: "Clean up Jammu" sanitation drive today covered municipal wards 16, 17, 18 & 25 and covering localities identified as New Plot, Jawahar Nagar, Prem Nagar, State Motor Garage, Amphalla, Pacca Talab, Puran Nagar, Vikas Nagar, H.S.S School, Govt. Middle School, Back Side of Sarwal Hospital, Arya Samaj Mandir area. Arun Khanna and Smt Usha Choudhary, Ex- Corporators, members of the Resident Welfare Committees, prominent citizens of these areas participated in the drive led by Kiran Wattal, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Officers of the Corporation. The program started from New Plot, where, residents demanded for proper lanes and drains in the area. The team visited different areas of the Wards for making assessment of the sanitation and other services concerning the Corporation, an official spokesperson said. During visit to these localities, the Commissioner JMC instructed Health Officer (H/O JMC) and Executive Engineers to start de-silting of drains and construction of deep drains and drains to redress the burning problem of water logging and flooding. Commissioner JMC Mr Wattal also chaired a 'public meet' at Rehari Colony wherein public representatives apprised the JMC officials with their sanitation and hygiene problems. The Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation assured that Corporation shall render best possible services at the door step of the Citizens and asked them to cooperate in its initiatives. He also instructed his staff for up gradation of the parks at New Plot, Rehari Colony and Jawahar Nagar was instructed to be taken up immediately besides provision of proper street lights in the Wards. Joint Commission (ADM), Joint Commissioner (W), Secretary, JMC, Executive Engineers, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Health Officer, Chief Transport Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer accompanied Commissioner JMC during 'Clean up Jammu' campaign. |
