| Post Azad's 'open option' hint for allies, NC gets vindictive | | NC spiking prospects of ally by supporting non Cong MLAs | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 1: With Congress having given ample indications that it was not bound to 'retain' ties with NC post 2014 and that it would keep the option of choosing an ally open, National Conference which is finding itself at the receiving end in the political scenario has started indulging in tactics that directly or indirectly harm the interests of Congress at several places. These are the areas where Congress has the potential of winning in the next Assembly elections , anti incumbency factor being main reason that may go in favour of the party by replacing the present MLAs belonging to various parties. Sources said instead of sticking to coalition dharma, the NC is following this in breach in more than one way. The NC has started playing games which not only damage the future prospects but also wash away the efforts and hard work put in by the Congress at block and district levels, besides the constituencies which the party is eyeing next year. Sources said there are some constituencies in Jammu region where Congress can easily register victory, party leaders already having build a rapport with the masses with constant contact programmes and other such activities which are a must in run up to elections next year. The leaders of Congress who are known figures in these areas are working overnight to nourish the constituencies so that they can reap the harvest at the time of polls . There are 3-4 constituencies where incumbent MLAs have started feeling threatened the manner Congress is aggressively working hard. However, in order to keep Congress away from strengthening its position , the NC is obliquely helping the non Congress MLAs at several constituencies. Sources said while NC doesn't see its own potential at these places, it is not palatable for it to let Congress gain stronghold , an approach which is being more as vendetta and vindictive tactics particularly after former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad last month said it publicly that Congress will keep its options open for allies. Sources said NC has openly started supporting and helping Ramnagar MLA not only in organizing public meetings and rallies but also is making things convenient by making available official staff , information officers for arrangements and logistics, though these facilities are normally not at disposal for MLAs, particularly to non ruling members. This is also true to the constituencies of Jammu East and Bishnah where the members are covertly or overtly supported to keep Congress at distance and not allow the party leaders gain any strength. |
