| Uproarious scenes witnessed in Assembly as PDP legislators, Aga Ruhullah lock horns | | BJP, NPP members' stage walkout alleging discrimination from speaker | | Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Oct 1: Uproarious scenes were witnessed in the legislative Assembly today as MLA Budgam, Aga Ruhullah entered into heated arguments with People’s Democratic Party (PDP) legislators and independent legislator, Engineer Abdul Rashid while he was speaking during the adjournment motion moved by PDP over the recent firing incidents in State. As Ruhullah accused PDP of being killers, the PDP legislators shot back saying that Ruhullah is making wild allegations against the party and its leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. The PDP legislators also objected to Ruhullah's allegations that they received money from Pakistan to fan the secessionist ideology in Kashmir in 2008. Leader of opposition in Legislative Assembly, Mehbooba Mufti referred to Ruhullah as a joker who has been presented by the Government so that they don't answer the questions and queries raised by Mehbooba which she referred to during her speech. As the war of words, accusations and counter accusations between PDP legislators and Ruhullah was going on, Engineer Rashid too chipped in. Engineer Rashid referred to Ruhullah as one of the killers and said that killers have no right to sermonize about the unprovoked firing incidents. The recent VK Singh controversy also came up for discussion between Ruhullah and Engineer Rashid with the former announcing that he should be hanged in Lal Chowk if it is proven that he has received money. Ruhullah said that it is highly unfortunate that Rashid is a member of Legislative Assembly. Earlier, the legislators of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and National Panthers Party (NPP) walked out of the House after Speaker Mubarak Gul did not allow the adjournment motion moved by them while seeking discussion over the recent militant attacks in Samba and Kathua districts. The BJP and NPP legislators wanted a discussion on this issue but as the same was rejected they came out of the House. Later, when they returned Prof Chaman Lal Gupta of BJP said that Speaker should give equal chances to legislators of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh to raise their issues in the Assembly. Prof Gupta said that in Kishtwar it was free for all and administration was caught napping with no action being taken by them. Balwant Singh Mankotia, of NPP questioned the security apparatus in place following the recent militant attacks in Kathua and Samba districts. Mankotia defended the role of Village Defence Committees and said the members of VDCs have played a positive role in fighting militancy in the different districts of Jammu division. He also took a dig at the rehabilitation policy of the State Government for the militants who wish to come back from Pakistan or Pakistan occupied Kashmir. |
