EARLY TIMES REPORT
Vijaypur, Oct 1: Senior Congress leader and former minister Manjit Singh Tuesday criticized the delaying tactics of the Government in sending package for one time settlement of the refugees/displaced persons of1947, 1965 and 1971. "Despite repeated requests from the Government of India, no package was sent from over one and half year so that the refugees/displaced persons could be settled," Singh said while addressing a monthly Congress workers meeting here. He demanded that the refugees should be given relief package at par with the Kashmiri Pandits. Referring to the demands of the refugees/displaced persons, he said, the refugees/displaced persons of 1965 and 1971 should be given tenancy right by the Government. Without naming any one, Singh condemned the statement challenging accession of Jammu and Kashmir with the Union of India. "Such leaders should desist from issuing these statements which are against the Country and unity of the State," he said. Appealing people to corner communal forces, he said, the people should unite against the communal forces and work together in favour of the secular forces in the Country to keep the social fabric intact from any disturbance. |
