JUTA to hold protest on Oct 9, 10
10/7/2013 10:56:46 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 7: Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA) has decided to hold protest demonstration against the UGC amended regulation 2013 on October 9, 10.
While addressing a press conference, JUTA president Prof J. P. Singh Joorel said that the teaching faculty is struggling for the effective implementation of the UGC guidelines 2010 while the UGC has issued fresh guidelines which introduced capping system for the appointments and promotions of teachers in the university.
He said the University administration has adopted a negative and pro-active approach and is taking the guidelines for its implementation in the meeting of University Council scheduled for October 11, 2013.
He said that the stringent capping guidelines are going to the Council without any deliberations within the university itself without giving any time to the faculty members whose teaching and research has already suffered because of the introduction of the API (Annual Performance Indictor).
Prof Joorel added that the proposed capping guidelines of June 2013 will further affect the teaching and research in the university as the teachers would focus on just gathering the points by running here and there.
The guidelines, if implemented without giving proper time to the University teachers to adopt and prepare for the same, will affect the careers and promotions of all the teachers in the university system.
Those who were present on the occasion included Vice president Dr. Kavita Suri, General secretary Dr. Rakesh Vaid, Joint secretary Dr Vijay Saigal and Treasurer Dr Vivek Sharma
