| Dengue heads south; strikes in Kathua town | | First victim detected | | Rakesh Sambyal
Kathua, 6 Oct : After creating panic in Samba, Dengue has knocked at the doors of Kathua with its maiden strike detected at ward no 10 of the municipal area of the town. The detection of the victim with symptoms of deadly dengue has sent a wave of panic amongst the locals. "We apprised the Medical Authorties to take up necessary steps in time so that situation did not aggrevate," said Pankaj Sharma. He further said that Municipal Council has also been alerted to take immediate preventive action. People have expressed their anger against the working of the municipal committee of the town and also held prolonged strike of the safaikaramcharis responsible for the incident that had left the town reduced to a garbage dump. "We are very much concerned as there are no adequate facilities at District Hospital and we refer the patient to Government Medical College Jammu. Meanwhile teams are deployed by the department which are going at Panchyats and Villages to make people aware regarding the disease," said CMO Dr. Ajay Khajuria. On the other hand after the intervention of locals, Municipal Council also came into action and has started the fogging and cleanliness drive in the area, the sources told. |
