Justice Gandhi visits Kishtwar, scrutinizes affidavits filed by people

KISHTWAR, Oct 7: In order to expedite the ongoing investigation into August 9 and August 10th Kishtwar and Padder violence that left three persons dead, Justice Retired RC Gandhi who was appointed by the State Government as an inquiry officer late last night arrived at Kishtwar and started his investigation.
As per the reports, Justice Gandhi soon after his arrival at Kishtwar scrutinized over 100 affidavits submitted by the violence victims and eyewitnesses. The sources added that after scrutinizing the affidavits, Justice Gandhi will summon few of them for further questioning with regard to the violence.
The sources added that Justice Gandhi will also visit Padder tomorrow where he will take first hand information with regard to August 10th violence at Padder in which one person identified as Lassa Khandey was allegedly kidnapped by the VDC members and later killed him. During his visit to Padder, Justice Gandhi will also inquire about the role of VDCs in killing of Lassa Khandey and attack on only majority community village of Kijae of Padder by the VDC members. The sources added that Justice Gandhi will stay at Kishtwar for nearly one week and will send its final report to the Government on time. It is pertinent to mention that today's visit of Justice Gandhi is his 2nd visit to Kishtwar. Earlier he toured Kishtwar on September 14 and returned back to Jammu next day. During his first visit, Justice Gandhi visited various parts of the Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas and assessed the damages caused to public and Government property.
