Rustam Jammu, Oct 7: Believe it or not, but it is a fact that a Congress MP from Haryana - a State known for "Aya Ram Gaya Ram"-type politics -on Sunday urged the people to join politics if they wished to make loads of money in no time and with little effort. It was none other than Choudhary Virender Singh who mocked democracy and made this statement and that, too, in a public meeting. Addressing the public meeting at Ambala organized by Haryana chapter of All-India Balmiki Samaj (AIBS), Chaudhary Birender Singh, Rajya Sabha MP, told his audience that politics is the biggest jackpot and that there are many people who become multi-billionaire by entering politics. "Nowadays, if somebody does not finding anything else to do, then the best profession (dhanda) is politics. If people fail in business, in Government jobs, cannot become a good engineer, doctor or lawyer, then they join politics. And many of them succeed in such a way, they play not in millions but in billions and try to crush the right people in politics," he said. A number of senior Congress leaders, including Union Minister and Ambala MP Selja, another Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi loyalist, were sharing the dais. No one contested Birender Singh, which means an endorsement of what he said and what he said meant if you could get it right, you can make a fortune in politics; you can make loads of money. Earlier on July 27, he had also addressed a public rally in Haryana where he had said that Rajya Sabha seats were available for those who could pay Rs 80 to 100 crore per seat. He had proved his point by telling his audience that there was a person who was prepared to purchase a Rajya Sabha seat for Rs 100 crore but he saved Rs 20 crore because he obtained the seat for Rs 80 crore only. Obviously, he referred to the Congress's mode of distribution of Rajya Sabha seats. It was clear from what the Congress MP said that the Congress doesn't take the politics to mean a profession that helps people mitigate their hardships and problems, but a profession that enable people to mint easy money without investing anything. He commended corruption and corrupt practices in a way. It appears the Congress has lost its way with the many people across the nation terming it a party of termites. |
