Jammu, Oct 7: The criminal negligence on part of various agencies engaged in development of Jammu city, can be gauged from the fact that unplanned digging of lanes and drains in various parts of city have created chaos, which is affecting business of shopkeepers besides creating hurdles for locals. Residents of Shakti Nagar, near Pawan Ice cream informed Early Times that for the last around two months, authorities had dug up road and lane to lay down sewerage pipes in the area. "The drain opposite to our shops was dug up around one month back, which has not been repaired so far", said Marinder Singh. He further said that the dug up drain, opposite to their shops has closed the path leading to their shops, which restricted the customers to visit the shop. A student Lovandeep Singh said that concerned authorities have dug up around 4 feet deep pit. "The water coming from various areas get accumulated in the dug up drain and whenever rains occur, entire lane turns into a pool of water, endangering pedestrians and two vehicular", he said. Dr. Rajinder Singh said that the dug up drain, has virtually turned into a death trap. "Hundreds of school children and old age persons pass through the street. During night hours, the drain could be proved dangerous", he said. They appealed concerned authorities to repair the dug up drain without any further delay.
