| Army rubbishes Pak claim on Keran ingress | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 7 : Senior Army functionaries of India's Northern Command have rubbished Pak claim on recent militant infiltration in Keran area of Kupwara sector. Army authorities said, "Had there been no infiltration in the area what for our troops have been keeping a strict watch for." The Army has said that during the last about three weeks more than 20 infiltrators have been killed in the Keran sector and still Pakistan was saying that there was no infiltration. Reports from the area revealed that during the last three days more than seven militants have been killed. Referring to the latest statement from Pak High Commissioner in India, Salman Bashir, senior functionaries of different security agencies said that the Pak official is either unaware of the realities or was simply feigning ignorance. They said that if the agencies across the LoC and the IB in Jammu and Kashmir had no role in abetting infiltration why have the Pak troops been resorting to unprovoked ceasefire violations? These functionaries claimed that repeated ceasefire violations by Pak troops were being resorted to for providing a passage for militants to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir. In support of their contention they said that during the last nine months Pak troops have violated ceasefire as many as 150 times which had encouraged militants for making over 205 ingress bids. They said it was because of better border management that over 100 infiltration bids were foiled and more than 40 infiltrators had been killed during the last ten months. They did not agree with the contention of Salman Bashir who stated that Islamabad has no hand in abetting infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir. Salman Bashir has said that Pakistan was ready for a "broad-ranging, sincere and clear-sighted" dialogue with India to resolve all issues. At the same time he dubbed as "baseless" the reports of militant incursions from its soil into Indian territory. "If there are issues (for India), we have concerns equally. Let us address each other's concerns and the logical and rational way forward… the civilized way for this is to have a dialogue. Pakistan is ready for this," Bashir has stated. He also stressed on the need to reinforce the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) between the two countries and denied as "baseless" reports of terrorist "incursions" into Indian Territory from Pakistan. There is a will and determination on both sides to build friendship and improve relations. |
