JAMMU, Oct 11: Athletes from Jammu district clinched overall trophies in both under-17 and under-19 age groups while under-14 title went to district Samba in the three-day Divisional level Inter-District (boys) Athletics Meet, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at University of Jammu grounds, here today.
Athletes from district Kathua also performed well taking home overall runners-up trophies in under-17 and under-19 age categories while under-14 runners-up trophy claimed by Jammu district.
Deputy Director, DYSS, Ved Parkash Sharma was chief guest in the valedictory function, who gave away medals and overall championship trophies to the winning teams. Speaking to the gathering of young athletes, Sharma congratulated the organising committee for the smooth and successful conduct of the meet.
Prominent among those present were District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Tirath Ram, Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEOs) Sarita Pandha, Sher Singh, Jeet Singh and Saroman Dogra.

UNDER-14 year: 200 mts: Ramneek Singh of Poonch, Ist; Raj Kumar, Ramban, 2nd and Liaqat Ali, Kathua, 3rd.
UNDER-17 year: 3000 mts: Parveen Kumar of Kathua, Ist; Sher Singh, Ramban, 2nd and Roshan Singh, Reasi, 3rd. 200 mts: Shiv Kumar of Kathua, Ist; Munna Kumar, Reasi, 2nd and Vivasan Sawhney, Jammu, 3rd. Triple Jump: Kajal Singh of Jammu, Ist; Ishtiaq Ahmed, Poonch, 2nd and Vishal Singh, Samba, 3rd.
UNDER-19 year: 200 mts: Yaar Mohd of Poonch, Ist; Rakesh Singh, Jammu, 2nd and Sunny Deol, Samba, 3rd. 4 x 400 mts: District Poonch, Ist; Kathua, 2nd and Samba, 3rd. Triple Jump: Deep Yadav of Jammu, Ist; Mohd Arif, Samba, 2nd and Mohd Imran, Udhampur, 3rd. |
