| Legislators get SUVs, Govt has no wages for daily wagers in J&K | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 11: The State Government has spent an amount of Rs 8 Crore to buy SUVs for legislators but thousands of daily wagers have been left high and dry notwithstanding the fast approaching Eid-ul-Azha. The Press enclave at Residency road in the winter capital has witnessed a number of protests from various employee organizations including daily wagers seeking release of their wages. However, nothing seems to move in the corridors of power. While the daily wagers are starving the Government released around Rs. 6 Crore from the State plan during the 2012-13 fiscal for purchase of 80m Mahindra Boleros- a luxury vehicle. The story does not end here. The State Government even enhanced travelling expenses of the legislators from 50,000 to 100, 000. The Government is now contemplating to enhance the TA/DA of the legislators and to facilitate this, the rules have either been amended or shall be amended shortly, sources in LA said. |
