| Modi factor casts shadow in state politics | | | Javaid Naikoo
Srinagar, Oct 12 : The emergence of Bhartiya Janata party (BJP) prime Ministerial candidate, Narindra Modi though according to the Chief Minister and state wing of BJP is likely to caste its shadow on state politics. Howeve, Kashmir politicians while nullifying the claim of BJP believe that communal card has never worked in Jammu and Kashmir as it works for Modi in other states of the country presently. The hot wave of Modi factor swinging in Kashmir after Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in an interview with a national paper opined that Modi factor can caste its shadow on state politics in forthcoming 2014 assembly elections. BJP senior politicians while appreciating the understanding of Chief Minister say he has understood the powerful emergence of BJP across the country in general and in Jammu and Kashmir in particular. State president of BJP Jugal Kishore, while talking to early times said that Modi factor will not only work for state wing of BJP in Jammu only but in Kashmir and Ladakh as well where people want a change and Modi along with whole BJP cadre of the country is propagating the mission of grass root politics with no space for corruption, unemployment and communal bifurcation as well. "It is the right time when Chief Minister has understood the importance of Modi factor. However while denying any such possibility during forthcoming 2014 assembly elections senior politicians of Kashmir believe that Modi factor is based on communal violence and applicable in urban areas of India only where his communal card is working for BJP presently, but when it comes to Jammu and Kashmir Modi factor based on communal violence has no space, besides state wing of BJP does not exist anywhere in the political graph of the state when it comes to even won some good number of seats in an assembly election. Dr Mustafa Kamaal said that it was 2008 Amranth land row which won after coloring badly by state wing of BJP won some seats for them in Jammu division only and such a day dream of BJP is never going to come true for them again when it comes to state assembly elections. "Like Kashmir problem is the result of mishandling of UPA and throwing people like Lalu Prasad Yadav by congress and its politicians in many states is wining ground for BJP across the country," added Dr Kamal. The communist party of India Marxist (CPIM) state secretary, Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami said that though Modi factor cannot be ignored altogether when it comes to state politics of 2014 assembly elections but the claim of state wing BJP about dominating the forthcoming assembly elections is actually an opinion of chief Minister only which has given birth to the claim of BJP state wing politicians and such claim has no history and no roots in Kashmir politics. Pertinently BJP state wing politicians also said that the Modi factor which is going to fetch a good number of seats for BJP across the state during 2014 assembly elections, people's democratic party (PDP) and national conference (N.C)are not the only options for forming a coalition government of the state as the newly emerging third front of the state would be a valid option for BJP to join hands with the office bearers of third front as well that time. |
