SIC delivers lecture at JU

Jammu, Oct 11: Dr. S.K. Sharma, J&K State Information Commissioner delivered lecture to students of The Law School, University of Jammu on the Right to Information Act. He apprised the students about the main features of the RTI Act, i.e., to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority and highlighted several provisions of the Act that includes, inter alia, the duty of Public Authority to suo motu disclose the information, the role of Public Information Officer in disposing off the application of the RTI Applicants within the stipulated time and the working of the J&K State Information Commission in disposing off the cases submitted to it either as an appeal or complaint. He also informed the students about the role of the Commission in taking steps to check the misuse of machinery by the information seekers for their ulterior motives. Besides, he also shared his practical experience in the pertinent filed.
Earlier, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Director of The Law School introduced Dr. S.K Sharma and highlighted his contribution in the field of Law as an academician, and researcher of repute.
