Jammu, Oct 11: The menace of bovine smuggling is spreading to almost every part of the state and there is no end to this activity. Despite the fact that at many places police has been and are arresting people responsible for the smuggling bids of bovine animals but still the menace is increasing every passing day and more and more people are getting involved in this activity. Earlier, bovines were being smuggled from Samba and Kathua to other parts of valley but know the menace has reached to Doda and Kishtwar districts as well where almost every week a bovine smuggling bid is being foiled. On Thursday only, the Doda police foiled a smuggling bid of bovines and recovered 52 animals from possession of seven smugglers. These smugglers were booked but this is not putting end to this widely spread menace. The police department must take strong measures to deal with this menace in which many people across the state are involved. There are allegations that it is because of involvement of few police officials and officers that bovine smugglers are smuggling these animals from one place to another without fearing the police or law. The senior police officers must take strong actions against those officials who are involved in this menace of smuggling of animals. These bovines when enter the valley, no one smuggler gets checked or scrutinized as these animals are taken to their destination at various places. On Thursday, the Doda police arrested seven smugglers, identified as Abdul Karim, Son of Muhammad Maqbool, R/O Bhalla, Rehmatulla, son of Abdul Khaliq, R/O Dandi, Farooq Ahmed, son of Atta Muhammad R/O Chamalwal Banihal, Arif son of Muhammad Saleem, R/O Chapnari Banihal, Muhammad Hanief, son of Abdul Samad R/O Gangwas, Shameem Ahmed, son of Muhammad Shafi R/O Kashtigarh and Muhammad Akal, son of Rustam Sheikh R/O Kharote. But there are much more people involved in this menace and a strong must be taken against them as emotional issues are related to many people with it. These smugglers don't buy animals but are involved in theft cases as well as most of the bovines they smuggler are being stolen from rural areas. |
