Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 19: The 66th Accession Anniversary of J&K shall be celebrated in the national capital, New Delhi on 26th October, 2013, on the eve of the Accession Day.
The JKNPP shall organise a grand celebration on 27th October, 2013 at Udhampur, J&K.
J&K acceded to the Union of India on 27th October, 1947 after the Maharaja of J&K, the only competent authority according to the Act of the British Parliament, signed the Instrument of Accession on 26th October, 1947 at his residential Amar Singh Palace at Jammu in the presence of V P Menon.
Bhim Singh in his historic note addressed in the JKNPP affidavit addressed to the Supreme Court of India said that, "J&K finally merged in the Union of India on 20th August, 1952, the day J&K Constituent Assembly terminated the Monarchy thus ending all subjective conditions, if any, with the termination of Monarchy. Article 370 which was a temporary provision became infructuous with effect from the day of termination of Monarchy."
J&K National Panthers Party has been observing with pomp and show the Accession Day with the Union of India in the same spirit as the entire nation celebrates 26th January though the Constitution of India is not fully implemented to the State of J&K by virtue of Article 370, a temporary provision in the Constitution of India.
JKNPP observed Golden Jubilee of the Accession in New Delhi on 26th & 27th October, 1997 with participation of renowned Dogra Artist Allah Rakha Khan, Zakir Hussain, Ramanand Sagar, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma and parliamentarians including Dr. Karan Singh, Ram Jethmalani and several other notables.
Bhim Singh has invited distinguished leaders from all political parties to participate in the celebration on 26th October, 2013. The invitees include Sonia Gandhi, L.K. Advani, Sita Ram Yechury, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, S. Surjit Singh Barnala and others.
