On October 11, division bench of the State High Court in response to the report submitted by the Pollution Control Board has found 80 hotels including A and B category violating norms laid down by state pollution control board for management of wastage and has ordered the suspension of commercial operation of all the hotels. The court also directed the PDA to implement its directive strictly. While implementing the court directive, the PDA today pasted notices on the gates of hotels identified by PCB, asking them to stop commercial operation. Earlier, the PDA has also served notices to them as well. "Complying the orders of honorable court we have served notices to 80 hotels asking them to stop the commercial operations. " said Chief Executive Officer (CEO), PDA, Riyaz Ahmad Wani, adding next hearing of the case in the court is on 23rd of this month. It is worth to mention here that almost all the top hotels in Pahalgam are lacking mechanism for treating the waste hence have no sewage treatment plants which directly affects the Pahalgam's sensitive environment. |
