| 3 day "Duggar Festival" to showcase Dogra heritage commences from Oct 25 | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 19: Duggar Vikas Manch held a press conference today for making the announcements about the 3 day Mega Event which it has planned to organise in Jammu as Duggar Festival, which shall commence from 25th October & culminate on the evening of 27th October 2013, the Martyrdom Day of Brig. Rajinder Singh Jamwal. The press conference was addressed by Dineshwar Singh Jamwal, president of Duggar Vikas Manch, whereas gen. secretary of Ex. Services League, Wng. Comdr. (Retd) Ganga Singh Chib, founder member of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, Shah Mohammad, vice president of Universal Foundation,. Parveen Sharma, president of Brg. Rajinder Singh Memorial Committee Rajinderpura (Bagoona), Babu Ram were representing the organisations which are organising the events as an associate at different places in Jammu regarding this Duggar Festival were also present on the occasion. Dineshwar Singh Jamwal addressing the media persons told that Duggar Vikas Manch has decided to organise for the first time a Three Day "Duggar Festival" which is there attempt not only to revive, preserve & protect the values of traditional old Dogra Heritage & Culture, keeping in the consideration the diminishing identity of Dogras, but also to highlight the role played by the Heroes of Dogra Community which they had played by making great sacrifices for the present formation of this Indian State which we see today in the hazardous terrains of the Himalayan region. Jamwal said that they have asked the govt. to setup stalls at Mubarakh Mandi Complex for the people who will visit there during this event to showcase local handicrafts, and handloom products, paintings etc. as they have also asked the Tourism Department in particular to make arrangements to show some documentary movies during these days, depicting the stories of dogra personalities of J&K state and programs depicting Dogra Heritage, Art and Culture. He told that various stalls shall also be installed which will serve the Dorgi Foods during this event so that visitors can also enjoy them. Jamwal further said that they had asked the govt. as well as private organisations especially related with the Tourism Trade, Hotel Industry to come forward & support them for the success of this Duggar Festival which can become an important event of Jammu in the coming years and has the potential to attract some people to Jammu City and its surroundings as the focal point of this event will be Heritage Mubarak Mandi Complex, which after restoration to its pristine condition has the potential to attract people, not only from various parts of India, but also from the rest of the world who visit the J&K State. Prominent others who were present in the press conference included Sudarshan Khajuria, Sham Lal Basson, Parshotam Thapa, (all working committee members of DVM). |
