| Dukhnivaran fest turns 'Dukhkaran' at MA Stadium | | Noise pollution in city | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 19: Within 'shifting blames' upon one another the authorities, the Jammuites have been left to digest the 'thunderous and ear deafening' sounds on Saturday ahead of a religious congregation scheduled in the winter capital. The residents residing nearby MA stadium had sleepless night due to noise pollution caused during the religious congregation being addressed by one religious preacher Baba Dukhnivaran. Later they lodged complaint to police for action while police was on its job to probe the matter till late hours but sources added police too is hesitating sensing the gravity of the issue being it purely related to religious activity. The disciples of the said religious head 'Baba Dukhnivaran' reportedly had hired part of land in MA stadium for religious congregation and installed high voltage music system which ultimately became nuisance for the locals residing near the MA Stadoum due to heavy 'noise pollution.' Meanwhile when authorities associated with MA stadium contacted, majority of them on anonymity told that, the authorities permitted the religious occasion in part of 'stadium' on rent for generating revenue at the same time shifting blame they added matter of noise pollution comes to the jurisdiction of District Magistrate Jammu. Meanwhile in another similar attempt of 'shifting the blames' an official with Pollution Control Board (PCB) told that it should be the responsibility of the District Magistrate to look into the issue. Here it needs to mention that as the noise pollution is reaching alarming levels in the capital cities of the state, Pollution Control Board (PCB) remains a 'toothless tiger' and apparently had failed to take action against violators. Despite issuing various notifications, violations continues especially by the religious organisations and high volume music systems of DJs could be seen during marriage functions. The district administration too has failed to curb the menace as the situation has become uncontrollable as the state does not have a strong law to deal with violators despite High Court too has passed instructions on noise pollution. Ironically while all metropolitan cities in the country have established specific norms and zones, where the pressure horns are restricted same is missing in Jammu. |
