| Paramedical students continue protest on 6th consecutive day | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Oct 19: Continuing their protest on the sixth consecutive day, paramedical students today held massive protest demonstration against the shifting of their examinations centers to Jammu. Paramedical students held a massive protest and blocked the National Highway at Kalibari Kathua for half an hour here today, for demanding the establishment of their examination centers at district Kathua. The protest lasted for one hour with blockade of college road in front of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park and raised slogans for demanding the examination centers to Kathua. The protest was joined by ABVP activists who extended their support to paramedical students for their demands of shifting of centre of examinations of paramedical students from district Kathua. Reeta Devi, Geeta Bhagat and Kamal while addressing protestors said the centre at Jammu is not only at far away from Kathua but also adding a financial burden for the students who cannot afford to stay and lodging in Jammu. The protestors urged the medical faculty to provide the facility of examination centre to the students at their home district so that they could be mentally prepared to take the examinations The protesting students also said that majority of students belong to poor families and cannot afford to stay in Jammu for days together during exams while the girl students will also face a lot of hardships due to shifting of the exam centers. |
