| Workshop on "Recent Trends & Development in Physics" held | | | Early Times Report billawar, Oct 19: Govt. Degree College, Billawar organized one day Physics workshop on the topic "Recent Trends and Development in Physics". On this occasion, Prof, P. N Kotru was the chief guest and Prof. Baba V K S Potukuchi was the guest of the honour. Principal Dr B. L Gupta welcomed the esteemed chief guest and guest of honour by presenting them floral bouquets. The workshop was divided into two sessions-the first included the presentations by the learned guests while the second comprised the power point presentations by the students on various topics. Prof, P. N Kotru spoke on the Material Engineering and Technology - A Fundamental View. He declared the present age as the age of materials and highlighted the miniaturization of our world due to the advancement in the field of Nanotechnology. He also discussed the life and findings of the great Physicists like Newton and Albert Einstein and urged the students to follow their footsteps by developing an inquisitive attitude towards the nature. Prof. Baba VKS Potukuchi, through his presentation on the topic "Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) and God Particle: Importance and Discovery" simplified the complex theories of Big Bang and Higgs Boson Particle (also known as God Particle). He threw light on the various forces in the nature and the possibility of their unified theory which can revolutionize the modern physics. In the second session of the workshop, 8 students presented their power point presentations on various relevant topics. Prof, P.N Kotru and Prof. Baba VKS Potukuchi adjudged their performances and declared Rajat Gupta (B.Sc P-III), Ajay Lakyal(B.Sc P-III)and Manisha Bhadwal(BSc P-II) first, second and third rankers respectively. The three position holders were given mementoes while the other participants were given consolation prizes. The Principal honored the guests with mementoes and locally made (Basohli) shawls. The event was compeered by Komal Sharma and Sohani Sharma. |
