VOJ books ex MD J&K Coop Housing Corp & Ors for misappropriations of funds

Jammu, Oct 19 : Vigilance Organization Jammu (VOJ) today registered a corruption case against Brij Bhushan Sharma then MD J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd Jammu and Chander Shekhar s/o GD Sharma r/o Channi Himmat Jammu for misappropriation of Rs 57.65 lakhs. During verification conducted into the allegations of misappropriation of funds by J&K Cooperative Housing Ltd Jammu, VOJ spokesperson stated that Brij Bushan Sharma then Managing Director J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd Jammu, Chander Shekhar and others conspired themselves and in pursuance thereof misappropriated an amount of Rs 57.65 lakhs on account of purchase of land measuring 1559.1 Kanals situated at village Kaluchak and Dilli adjacent to Apna Vihar colony Jammu. It was further revealed that in response to resolution No 82. Dtd 25-10-1999 passed by Jammu Cooperative Housing Building Society Ltd Jammu, Brij Bushan Sharma then Managing Director J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd Jammu started the process of acquitting and purchasing land through a private person Chander Shekhar and also released an amount of Rs 57.65 lakhs in his favour in 23 installments during the period from March 20, 2001 to March 13, 2002 without getting any possession/ownership rights of land in favour of JKCHC Ltd Brij Bushan Sharma then Managing Director J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd Jammu has made the payment to Chander Shekhar and till date no land has been acquired against the payment. During the verification it has been further revealed that on July 26, 2000 the deed of agreement signed with the authorities of J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd was made on deceitfully and dishonestly by Chander Shekhar by posing himself as lawful attorney holder of 1559.1 Kanal land situated at Kalu Chak and Dilli belonging to different land owners. On the basis of this, agreement duly registered in the court on July 26, 2000 J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd Jammu managed to get guarantee agreement from J&K Govt to get the loan of amount of Rs 810.70 lakhs from HUDCO on March 30, 2011. Out if sanction loan amount of Rs 57.65 lakhs given to Chander Shekhar without transferring the right of owner any of the piece of land proposed for the project. After conducting verification, VOJ found that the acts and commission on the part of Brij Bushan Sharma then Managing Director J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd Jammu and Chander Shekhar have caused wrongful loss to the Govt exchequer and corresponding loss to the beneficiaries and registered a FIR u/s 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K PC Act and 120-B RPC are made out.
