| PRC constituted to review milk, other products prices | | | early times report
Jammu, Oct 19: After initial deliberations with all the stake holders and concerned depts. , a meeting of " Price Review Committee " (PRC) constituted by Govt: , to review the rates of milk /milk products , was held in the office chambers of Director CAPD Jammu.
The meeting was attended by a number of non-members lobbying for 'Doody Gujar' and milk retail sellers.
While the milk producers insisted on increase in rates the CWA insisted in supply of standard milk and milk products on the concerned depts including Divisional, District and JMC to ensure the quality of milk/milk products, and their sufficient regular supply, in view of coming festivals.
After long discussion mostly by non-members in favor of milk producers, the rates of milk/milk products were substantially enhanced.
Although Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) and Consumer Protection Organization (CPO) protested against such steep rise in prices, CWA pointed out that although the PRC is agreeing to steep enhance in the prices of milk, vendors will not supply the quality products.
'Doodhi Gujjar union' gave an assurance that they will maintain the quality. The enforcement authorities including JMC, Legal Metrology and CAPD representative gave an assurance to the effect that quality of milk / milk products will be maintained at all costs. The CWA pointed out if the quality is not maintained Consumer Organizations would seek review of the enhanced rates after one month . |
