Jammu, Dec 8 : A Lance Naik of Mach Company posted in 191 Brigade today morning allegedly committed suicide with his service weapon in Rakh Mithi area falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor police station. "Identity of the deceased has been established Lance Naik Gopal Kumar son of Naresh Kumar of village Sonabarsa in Bihar", said a police officer ,adding that he was on duty and at around 6:45 he shoot himself with his INSAS riffle.
After hearing the gun shoot, other army men immediately reached the spot and found Gopal in a pool of blood. He was immediately shifted to Military Hospital (MH) Satwari where he was declared as brought dead.Later, the body was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor for autopsy. After legal formalities, the body was handed over to his family members for last rites.Police said that a case in this connection has been registered and investigations have been started to ascertain the exact reasons behind the Death. |
