| Omar's early morning tweets irk Congress | | "NC having tacit understanding with BJP" | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 8: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's early morning tweets on election results of five states including Delhi, Madya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Rajsthan and a veiled attack on UPA for "last Minute populist schemes", vindicate the news report carried by this newspaper today wherein it was suggested that National Conference is moving close to BJP. Chief Minister was perhaps the first person who commented on the election results early this morning earlier than the jubilant BJP and a distressed Congress which the observers have started analyzing in right perspective that the Omar Abdullah led National Conference is keen to revive its relationship with the BJP at Centre. On the other hand the Congress leadership of the State was very upset over the results in four states which according to them will certainly have an impact on Jammu and Kashmir. Congress leaders, Professor Saifudin Soz and senior Ministers in Omar led coalition government were seen totally upset not only over the elections results of four states but more because they were no more in a position to dictate terms to the National Conference with whom the party is sharing power in the state. "The news-report that has appeared in today's early Times holds much water, I am surprised to notice that NC is more upbeat than the local BJP which simply means that they have reached an understanding with BJP," said a Jammu based senior Congress leader on the conditions of not to be named. The Congress leader said the National Conference has a history of backstabbing and I am really surprised at Chief Minister's quick comments on AICC Vice President Rahul Ghandi's election campaigning who stood behind him (Omar) like a rock during last five years. The Congress leader further added that though it was premature to comment on NC identifying itself with BJP, however, changing colures like chameleon is NC's long tested formula. He said as far the speculations about tacit understanding between BJP and the NC, there are wide allegations from within the BJP itself of their top leaders having close proximity with NC president, Dr. Farooq Abdullah. He said locally the NC Provincial President Davinder Rana and local BJP leader's lengthy telephonic conversations with the NC leader; invariably taking brief from him about any action plan of the BJP is no more a secret. "There are also wide speculations about the Rana having entered into a secret understanding with the state BJP president and MLA from Nagrota, Jugal Kishore to make way for Rana, who is keen to fight next Assembly election from Nagrota," said the Congress leader. "He said that Jugal Kishore is reportedly trying for party ticket in the Lok Sabha election from Jammu constituency. In this way he will make the ground easy for Rana to get elected from Nagrota. In a return, the NC is reported to have assured the BJP leader that it will not press on some criminal cases pending against him, to be reopened," the Congress leader added. He said that both BJP and NC leadership both at centre and in the state are in touch with each other and the state unit of congress was fully aware of it. However, another congress leader while downplaying Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's early morning tweets said that though a part of it was directed towards Rahul but it was more directed towards Modi. He said that the results of four states indicate that the voters have given their verdict on the basis of local issues and there was no Modi impact though the BJP tries to portry it like that. "If there was a Modi factor, why didn't it work in Delhi where the newly born Aam Aadmi Party has performed well than the BJP. |
