Katra, Dec 8: Two years down the line the High Court direction banning private tuition by government teachers continues to be observed in breach in Reasi district. Sources told Early Times that some teachers appointed at Higher Secondary School Pouni of teshil and district Reasi are engaged in the prohibited practice by forcing students to take tuition from them. "The teachers which are of lecturer and master grade are openly violating the High Court order and giving tuition to the students of same school at private institutes outside the school putting heavy financial burden on them," they said. They further informed that these government teachers are minting money through this restricted practice in the area. "The students of 11th and 12th standards are being charged Rs 8,000 to 10,000 per syllabus as tuition fee which is covered in four months of period," said a student who takes private tuition from the teachers of GHSS Pouni on the condition of anonymity. He further said that mostly students belong to the poor family who are being forced by teachers to take tuition from them. "School administration knows this fact very well but due to the apathy of Principal of the school no action has been taken so far against the erring teachers who are fleecing the students," he said further adding that there are four lectures and four master grade teachers who give tuition in two shifts one in morning which starts from 7 am to 9:30 am and second in evening which starts from 4:30 pm to 7 pm. Chief Education Officer (CEO) Reasi Ashok Sanyal has been contacted many a time but situation is still static, he added. When contacted Director School Education Kranti Sharma said he would take strong cognizance of the matter and assured that if anybody was found guilty would be taken with heavy hand. Pertinently the Principal of the GHSS Pouni had already faced suspension of two months who was found absent during a surprise visit by Deputy Commissioner of Reasi at the school. |
