Pertinently said trust allegedly has been criticized by some persons barely a few days ago for allowing felling of green trees on the cremation ground being managed/looked after by the said trust. Countering the claims as of the so called sources (disgruntled elements), the trust members in their statement defended the SBT by saying, "To ensure sanctity of the sacred spot by providing barbed wire fencing and plantation of Kikar (Acacia) trees much before migration to ensure overall development and to check outside encroachment of the area."
Statement further said, "Having witnessed the most dilapidated condition of the trees and with possible apprehensions that the half fallen, the partly uprooted and even standing green trees might be fell down by miscreants in absence and due supervision, the committee in its unanimously decided to dispose/cut the trees to utilise sale proceeds for subsequent development of the ground Razhal (SBT)." The statement also referred that the committee has sold these Kikar trees to one Mohd Akhar Wani against payment of Rs 5, 10,000/- after a unanimous decision was taken in a meeting attended by active members consisting of the permanent and original residents of Lower Khanmoh-Srinagar on 13 October 2013 .
