JAMMU, Jan 18: The National Conference (NC) members of Legislative Assembly seem to have taken over the Department of Information as even a small visit of these Srinagar based NC MLAs to any area is being covered by the Information Department.
Their visit is being sent to different media organisations in shape of a press release, which has made it clear that National Conference is trying to use Information Department as its personal public relation department.
It is actually being observed mostly when Srinagar city based NC MLAs, like Nasir Wani, Shamima Firdous, Irfan Shah and others tour any particular area, they are given space in the official press note of Information Department.
If the National Conference really wants to cover the events of its own leaders and MLAs, they must activate their public relation unit and send the press releases to different media organisations.
The Information Department must not become biased with respect to MLAs as there are many other political parties, whose MLAs also tour different areas and even do good work on the ground. The Information Department has never send even a single press release carrying the news of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) MLA or National Panthers Party (NPP) MLA or even independent MLAs.
But when it comes to NC MLAs, the Information Department becomes their PR agency.
The Information Department is for Chief Minister, Ministers, Legislative Assembly Speaker and Legislative Council chairman but the department is being forced to cover the events of National Conference and that too of only Srinagar. |
