| 6 students, 6 parents land up behind bars | | BOPEE Examination Scam | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 18: A special anti-corruption court here today remanded six students and as many parents to judicial remand for their alleged involvement in 2012 multi-million Common Entrance Test paper scam involving former chairman of Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE), Mushtaq Ahmad Peer. The six students and the parents were produced by Crime Branch before Special Judge Anti-Corruption Kashmir, Mohan Lal Manhas, in open court as the trial in the scam was to start today. The court sent the six students to Judicial remand in Central Jail here till Monday while parents were sent till Thursday. The six students include Ahmad Faraz of Naibasti, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone of Samthan Bijbehara, Naveed Ahmad Bhat of Mirhama Bijbehara, Khursheed Ahmad Dar of Chinigund Bijbehara, Yasir Yousuf Hajam of Chandan Pajjan Bijbehara and Yasir Yousuf Dar of Pazalpora Bijbehara. The parents sent to jail include Bilal Ahmad Vaid of New Colony Bijbehara, Bashir Ahmad Dar of Chinigund Bijbehara, Mohammad Shafi Bandh of Awantipora, Mohammad Iqbal Reshi of Nai Basti Anantnag, Gulam Mohi-ud-Din Lone of Semthan Bijbehara and Mohammad Yousuf Dar. The Crime Branch has named 12 students and nine parents in the chargesheet. Among the students, three are minors and as per counsel CPO of Crime Branch, they will be produced separately before the competent court. The three students and the three remaining parents will be produced before the court on January 28 when main case has been listed, the CPO said. Meanwhile, Mushtaq Ahmad Peer and another accused Sajjad Ahmad Bhat moved fresh applications for bail. After hearing counsel representing them, the court directed Crime Branch to file objections on Jan 21. Peer, who was arrested on November 23 for alleged selling of CET papers in 2012, was also produced by Crime Branch before Special Judge Anti-Corruption Kashmir.
