| On 25th 'exodus' Day KPs call on Modi | | BJP committed to ensure 'justice' to community, says party's PM candidate | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 19: On 25th year of their exodus from Kashmir, their own homeland, displaced Kashmir Pandits called on BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi with a hope he would address the complexed dimensions of 'return' issue. Modi reciprocated this 'yearning' with an assurance that BJP committed to see how 're-settlement' of the community back in their motherland can be ensured with dignity and honour in a safe environment that existed in the past. In what could be seen as observance of the "Nishkasan Diwas" ,albeit on a positive note, a delegation of KPs today met Narendra Modi at Ram Leela Grounds, shortly before Modi was to address BJP's National Executive meeting. The delegation comprising men and women were seen attired in their traditional dresses, a gesture that was aimed to remind the BJP stalwart of their distinct identity and a rich cultural ethos , lineage the community has inherited from their ancestors thousands of years back. The delegation led by Prof KN Pandita and TN Razdan also presented the traditional 'Pheran' to Modi and honoured him with 'Dastar', a traditional turban. The women observed some rituals that marked showering of blessings and best wishes from the community.Enthused and spirited KP delegation also expressed solidarity with Modi for forthcoming Parliamentary elections. However, the high point of the short interaction was a reaffirmed gesture and commitment from the BJP's Prime Ministerial nominee that he and his party would do everything to ensure 'justice' on all fronts to this community. "We are aware of the sufferings and pain of this community .....this day is a reminder that redoubles resolve to fight injustice meted out to the community......despite this pain you came with a nationalistic feeling and bestowed honour to me (January 19 Har Bar Bhayanak Peeda Dene Wala Diwas Hai....IS Peeda Key Bawjood Aap Log Rashtra Bhawana Kay Sath Aaye Aur Mujhey Samman Diya....), Modi said in his brief speech while interacting with the delegation. In an apparent reference to forced exodus and displacement from their Homeland Modi said, "injustice to Kashmiri Pandits is not only an attack on their rights but an attack on our national ideal of Sarva Pantha Sambhav".Modi further said this attack to idea of harmony which this nationa enjoyed in the Golden era commenced first at the time of partition. "But a mother cannot discriminate with its own people....(Ma Apne Doodh Main Darar Nahi Dal Sakti Hai.....), he said referring to the fact Kashmir is a motherland to this community and they had natural stake to this land. |
