JAMMU, Jan 21: Pradesh Congress Committee has hailed the decision of UPA government for granting minority status to Jain Community. According to press release, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dharam Pal Sharma, in which they thanked Congress senior leaders, Minority Affairs Minister K Rahman Khan for taking keen interest to grant the minority status to the Jain community. "The decision will enable Jain community to avail all the benefits in government schemes and programmes and also get due share in central funds earmarked for welfare programmes and scholarships for minorities", he said, adding that the community would be in a position to manage and administer their own educational institutions.
